Meet Robert (Denny)I’m Robert Wanlass, but people call me by my middle name, Denny (short for Dennis). I was born and raised in the Salt Lake Valley and have lived in Layton since 1998. My wife and I have been married for 31 years and are the proud parents of four children, including two on the autism spectrum, giving our family firsthand experience navigating the challenges and opportunities faced by families with special needs.
I earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Utah and an MBA from Weber State University. After working in the corporate world, I founded Red Dot Firearms in Layton and successfully operated the business for over a decade before selling it. Today, I work as a Realtor™ with Equity Real Estate and remain committed to serving the community my family has proudly called home for nearly three decades. |

2nd Amendment
The Second Amendment guarantees the individual right to keep and bear arms, and its command that this right “shall not be infringed” is clear and unequivocal.
From its ratification in 1791, the Second Amendment has served as a safeguard against government overreach and as a guarantee that law‑abiding citizens retain the ability to defend themselves, their families, and their freedoms. The Founders did not intend for the government to have the authority to disarm the people; any such power would contradict both the text and purpose of the Constitution.
The Supreme Court has repeatedly affirmed this understanding, recognizing that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess firearms for lawful purposes, including self‑defense, and that this protection applies at both the federal and state levels.
Accordingly, any firearm regulation that is not consistent with the nation’s historical tradition is unconstitutional. The Importance of Education
Education is most effective when parents, not government bureaucracies, are recognized as the primary decision‑makers in their children’s lives. Parents know their children’s needs, values, strengths, and challenges better than any institution, and they must retain the authority to guide their children’s education without unnecessary interference.
A strong education system should support families by focusing on essential academic foundations such as reading, writing, mathematics, history, STEM, financial literacy, and economics; skills that prepare students for independence, productive careers, and responsible citizenship.
